Site OSH notice board
A site OSH notice board is the board at a construction site that carries the project’s safety documents where every worker and visitor can read them. In Abu Dhabi, ADOSH-SF CoP 53.1 requires it in a clearly visible position, in Arabic, English and the workforce’s main languages, and lists its minimum contents: construction licence, Form H, project directory, OSH policy, incident reporting procedure, major-incident notice, emergency and evacuation plan, visitors notice, site rules and the lost time injury rate.
The code fixes what the board carries, not how it is built. These are the formats in use, chosen by how often the documents change and how exposed the position is.
ACP or aluminium face, printed headings for each required item, clear A4 pockets so documents are swapped without reprinting the board.
Aluminium-framed case with a lockable acrylic door over a pin or magnetic surface — keeps the licence and Form H from walking away.
Policy, rules and emergency plan printed onto the face. For content that does not change during the project.
A board with changeable numbers for man-hours and LTI rate, often paired with the notice board at the gate.
Freestanding on two galvanised posts at the entrance, where the hoarding is not strong enough or the gate is set back.
Fixed to the hoarding frame beside the gate — the most common position on building sites.
CoP 53.1 sets no dimension; the board has to hold ten items readably. These are the sizes sold for it in the UAE.
| Format | Size (W × H) | Holds |
|---|---|---|
| Lockable case | 1220 × 915 mm | Up to 12 A4 documents |
| Printed board, standard | 1200 × 900 mm | 10 required items, A4 pockets |
| Printed board, large | 2440 × 1220 mm | Required items plus emergency plan and site map at A3 |
| Document pocket | A4 (210 × 297 mm) or A3 | One document each |
The emergency and evacuation plan is usually the largest item on the board. Give it A3, not A4, so the escape routes and assembly point can actually be read.
| Item | Typical specification |
|---|---|
| Face | ACP 3–4 mm or aluminium sheet, UV-printed or vinyl applied |
| Headings | Arabic and English for each required item |
| Document holders | Clear acrylic or PETG pockets, A4 / A3, top-loading |
| Case (where used) | Aluminium frame, lockable acrylic door, pin or magnetic back |
| Mounting | Hoarding frame, or two galvanised steel posts with concrete footing |
| Finish | UV-resistant print or overlaminate; rounded corners |

No. The code sets the contents and the visibility, not a dimension. 1200 × 900 mm is the common size for the ten items; 2440 × 1220 mm when the emergency plan and site map go on the same board.
At a prominent position clearly visible to workers and to anyone entering — on most sites beside the main gate.
No. Dubai sets a safety instructions sign at the entrance under DM Circular 11-1-1, in two fixed sizes. It is a different item with its own page.
