Lead our workshop through a modern ERP and manufacturing system.
Art for Printing Industry runs on an ERP and manufacturing system. Orders, job cards, materials, machine checks, faults, quality issues and staff tasks are all recorded there as the work happens. The Production Manager leads the workshop through the system — following each employee’s entries, seeing how every job is progressing and acting on what the records show — rather than through paper checklists. You own the workshop end to end: approved orders become finished products that match the specification, with the people, materials and machines behind them working well.
Production & orders
- Plan and prioritise production across machines and stations according to order deadlines and capacity.
- Review job cards before production starts: specification, material, finishing and quantity.
- Keep order status accurate in the system and alert Sales and Operations early to any risk of delay.
Following staff work in the system
- Make sure every employee records their work in the ERP: tasks, job progress, material use, machine checks and faults.
- Follow the workflow of each employee and each job through their system entries; spot gaps, delays and missing records and act on them.
- Use the system’s records, not verbal updates, as the basis for follow-up, decisions and reports.
Materials & methods
- Choose the right material, ink and finishing method for each job, and advise Sales and Design on technical feasibility and cost.
- Set material usage standards, control waste and make sure consumption is recorded against each order.
- Work with the store on stock levels so production never stops for lack of material.
Workshop team
- Assign work by skill and priority, and train operators on machines and processes.
- Ensure no one operates a machine without training or authorisation.
- Enforce company policies on the shop floor, handle performance issues in writing and complete staff appraisals.
Quality control
- Make sure every order is checked against the approved proof and specification before it leaves — no non-conforming product is released.
- Maintain colour consistency and quality standards across all machines.
- Record every defect and customer complaint in the system with its root cause and corrective action, and act on production complaints promptly.
Machines
- Be accountable for all production equipment: digital production press, offset, UV flatbed, wide-format latex and solvent, sublimation, contour cutting, CNC router, laser cutter, and die-cutting, lamination, foil and guillotine finishing.
- Follow the machine checks and faults operators record in the system, and make sure each fault is followed through to repair with its cause, action and cost recorded.
- Plan preventive maintenance with vendors and keep critical spares and consumables available.
Safety
- Enforce PPE, safe operating procedures, safe handling of chemicals and inks, and a clean, organised workshop.
- Stop any unsafe machine or practice immediately.
Development
- Remove bottlenecks and reduce setup time, waste and rework.
- Write and maintain standard operating procedures for key products and machines.
- Propose new equipment, materials or methods with a clear cost/benefit case.
Reporting
- Report regularly to the General Manager on output, delivery performance, quality, waste, machine status and staffing, using data from the system.
How performance is measured
- Orders delivered on time and to specification.
- Zero wrong-design or wrong-spec products released.
- Complete and accurate staff entries in the system.
- Machine faults followed through to closure.
- Reduced waste, rework and customer complaints.
Requirements
- 7+ years in commercial printing, signage or packaging production, including at least 3 years managing a production floor.
- Hands-on experience across digital, offset and large-format printing, UV flatbed, cutting and CNC, and post-press finishing.
- Deep knowledge of print materials, inks and finishing: paper and board, vinyl and PVC, acrylic, ACP and foam board, banner and fabric media, PU and leather, UV, latex, solvent and sublimation inks, foils, laminates and epoxy doming.
- Enough prepress awareness to catch a bad file before production: bleed, colour modes, white ink, cut contours and die-lines.
- Practical use of an ERP / manufacturing system to plan, track and follow up work (Odoo is an advantage).
- Strong leadership: able to assign, train, follow up and hold people accountable fairly.
- Knowledge of UAE workplace health and safety practice.
- English is mandatory; Arabic is preferred.
- Diploma or degree in printing technology, graphic arts or engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
